Arts Award: Discover, Explore, Bronze, Silver and Gold.
What I love about the Arts Award qualification is that it assesses the young persons progress and development from whatever starting point they are at. It is about celebrating the individuals learning journey and is fantastic at building confidence and giving them a broad knowledge of the creative arts. It supports young people to find out more about creative jobs that they may be interested in pursuing in the future and as they move up the levels they are encouraged to make links with local arts organisations and build a network of support.
Examples of Arts Award I have delivered:
Schools - After school arts club and as a class project in lesson time.
Holiday Clubs - Intensive course each day for a week at Discover, Explore and Bronze Levels.
Community groups - Brownie groups over a few sessions.
Home Ed groups - Regular weekly art classes and as an intensive block.
Areas covered:
Take part in art activities and learn new creative skills this can be in any area of the arts; visual art, photography, dance, music, crafts, design etc
Find out about artists and arts organisations; research artists, visit galleries and exhibitions, meet and interview local artists.
Create their own art work or performance.
Present and pass their skills on to others (this builds as you move through the levels)
