I have worked on many exciting projects in schools and understand the importance of clear communication and working in partnership with teachers so the very best outcomes are achieved.
Murals - Bridge Cottage mural. Schools were asked to paint a panel to be displayed during the renovation of a historic building used by the community. I worked with two schools and supported pupils with the design process and then the painting of their final work. I worked with all the children in the school, with the younger year groups painting the border and the older years painting the main image. It was important to the project that the whole school community was included; this provided pupils with an opportunity to succeed and be proud to show their families and wider community what they had achieved.
After school Art club - Weekly sessions providing students with an exciting programme of art activities exploring a range of materials; painting, drawing, printmaking and sculpture and learning about other artists along the way.
Eco-Art project - Art is a great way to teach children about climate change and environmental issues. Children worked in class to find out about ocean pollution and the problems this causes marine life. They then explored artists that are raising awareness of these issues in their artwork. Children took part in art workshops using waste materials e.g. plastic bottles and created sculptures that were displayed in the school playground.
Workshops - Screen printing - working with senior students on a two day intensive workshop to expand work for their portfolio. Printing is a great way for students to quickly experiment with colour and composition and demonstrate development of an idea.
